There is a fillable form on the Ashley website to Report an Absence OR Send an email at AshleyAttendance@friscoisd.org by 8:30am with the following:
Child’s Name
Child’s Teacher
Date of Absence
Reason for absence
Phone number where you can be reached
Per district policy, an email or note must be received within 3 days of child returning to school in order for an absence to be excused. A phone call does not excuse an absence, but lets us know your child is accounted for.
Arriving late (tardies) and leaving early count toward absences.
All doctor’s notes and parent notes must be turned in within 3 days of the absence in order for it to be excused. Notes turned in after three days will not be accepted.
A maximum of 10 parent notes per year can be excused.
After three unexcused absences, a letter will be sent home indicating that the student has reached three unexcused absences.
After seven unexcused absences, another letter will be sent home and an attendance contract will need to be signed by the family.
After ten unexcused absences, truancy will be filed.
If a family must take an extended trip during the school year, the family must notify the Assistant Principal to fill out an “Extended Absence Notification.” This does NOT excuse the trip, it only serves as notification for the school and teachers that a student will be out for an extended period of time.
All family trips are UNEXCUSED and will count toward truancy.
Any student who misses 18 or more days can be retained according to state attendance laws.
