How do I contact the school? You can call the front office at 469-633-3800 and speak with Colleen Amarro, our Allen Receptionist.
What are the school hours? The doors open at 7:20 am for the children to enter the school. At 7:45 am the school day begins. Please make sure your child has entered the building with enough time to get to class before 7:45 am to avoid tardies. The school day ends at 3:05 pm
What time is the conference period for the 4th Grade Team? The fourth grade conference period is from 9:35-10:20 AM. Please contact your child's teacher to set up a time and date to meet.
What are Specials? Specials are subjects taught outside the classroom...Art, Music, Health & Fitness (H&F), and P.E. These classes will alternate by class during the week, with each class going to P.E. 2 times each week. On your child's P.E. and H &F days, please make sure to send them in athletic shoes or sneakers. Specials time is from 9:35 AM to 10:20 AM each day. What is GMA? Good Morning Allen (GMA) is our morning assembly. It will take place on the first three Fridays of every month. This is the time when birthdays , as well as many other special programs and events are announced.
What time is lunch? The 4th grade eats lunch from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm. A limited number of lunch visitors will be allowed to come to lunch. Please check the Allen Smore regarding when the school will be open for lunch visitors.
What is chow time? This time is for eating their last bit of unfinished food, clean-up preparation and to listen to important announcements from the lunch duty teachers. We ask your cooperation when eating lunch with your child because they will be expected to participate in chow time as well.
What are the recess guidelines? Recess is scheduled for 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Outdoor recess will occur if the temperature is 94 degrees or less or the temperature heat index is less than 100 degrees during the hot months. During Red Ozone Warning days students will not be allowed to go outside. During Orange Ozone Warning days, students will only be able to go outside for 1/2 of the recess time. During the cold months, students will be able to go outside if the real feel temperature and/or wind chill is above freezing.
Can I bring something to celebrate my child's birthday? Birthdays will be celebrated during class and through Allen Live assemblies. There will be no birthday treats shared in schools, per FISD policy, in compliance with the State of Texas nutrition guidelines.
