Freehold Regional High School District
The summer months are a great opportunity for students to read and embrace an appreciation for reading. The goal of FRHSD summer reading is for students to continue becoming a reader.
Students will advance literacy skills as we foster a culture of reading to cultivate life-long readers and learners.
Students will choose a high-interest book to read this summer.
This can be fiction or nonfiction.
Students should consider the subject matter before selecting a book and discuss choices with their parents/guardians.
Parents/guardians should be actively involved in the selection process and preview the selected texts.
For those who would like suggestions, we are sharing a variety of options from various organizations such as the Monmouth County Library, American Library Association, and FRHSD staff and students. Current students are encouraged to reach out to the District Media Specialist, Mrs. Laurie Matassa, for personalized reading recommendations prior to the end of the school year.
The suggestions are included to appeal to a wide variety of interests and certain works may contain mature subject matter or language.
To foster a culture of reading, students should be prepared to discuss and share their selected summer read in class.
