The Bravecast has an entire student staffed Journalism Team that runs our Sports Segment of the Broadcast.
This is the main role of the sports report team reporting the Manalapan High School Sports’ news. Being an anchor involves preparing and reading the sports statistics on camera in a variety of locations depending on the week. The anchors work with the Sports Journalism Team to determine who is reporting on which piece of news/statistics.
Our football broadcasts feature live play-by-play commentary by our Sports Anchors to keep our viewership engaged in the actual atmosphere, just as if they were at the game! Our broadcast features multiple camera angles fed into a multi-camera switcher, which outputs the display that the viewers see watching from home!
Starting at the beginning of the week, the sports team will work together and get real world experience to research and gather any statistics/information needed for the segment that week. Information includes, player stats, highlights, wins, scheduled games, etc. The team will attend games, talk to coaches/players and check a variety of websites and social media platforms for finding game statistics.
These members work to edit the sports report making sure everything looks good, and is accurate. This role provides the students with real world experience with industry grade equipment and software.
On Wednesdays, the sport team will travel to their filming location *(filming location is picked by the sports team during the production meeting and will vary from location)*. Setup includes microphones, cameras, lighting equipment, and tripods out of respective bags and positioning the equipment in the proper format. They also check continuity to ensure the area is a good place to film.
