6th and 7th grade social studies has been studying cultural diffusion. We have completed our plans for doing our own cultural mosaic mural on the outside wall of our classroom! The wall will be done out of sidewalk chalk and will consist of elements from many different cultures that have now been diffused into US culture, and items from US culture that are now found throughout the world.
7th grade social studies created their own town. They had to plan accurately for their area including location, climate, culture, language, natural resources and land features, jobs their people would have, what people do for leisure, a name with a reason for the name, etc. From there, students had to create a map of their area that included elements from all of the areas above. They also had to prepare the details of their land into facts that completed the back side of their maps.
