Organization of Library
The High school library is organized by Genres and the alphabetical order. Displays are updated as needed. The elementary side is currently being updated to Genre sections. Currently it is divided into Dewey Decimal system and Everybody Readers. . The community adult section is currently divided into Genres and alphabetical order.
Newspapers
The school currently subscribes to two print newspapers (Omaha World Herald and the Voice) We also have an online subscription to the Lincoln Journal Star. . In addition Freeman also subscribes to several magazines. The Media specialist has decreased the amount of periodicals because students do not read them and we found ourselves changing them out each month with no one touching them. I feel this is a waste of money. Our media specialists in our ESU called the State Department of Education several years ago and got approval to not have as many written copies, so we followed suit.
Students do have the resources of the Nebraska Library Commission, where they are able to access online periodicals (Husker Illustrated and Nebraskaland).
Students also have access to ProQuest SIRS Issues Researcher, NebraskAccess as well as other journals and articles online and in print. .
