Michigan Department of Education and Freeland Community School District are committed to ensuirng students have social-emotional learning opportunities during their school experience.
Additionally, we are comitted to providing supportive and intentional care for our students' mental health and well-being.
School Counselors are available for all students during the school day. They will regularly check-in with students at all levels throughout the school year. Parents are also welcome to request school counseling support.
School Counselors work with teachers to deliver classroom lessons that are developmentally appropriate and focus on social-emotional learning.
Student Intervention Specialists at the elementary school are available to provide targeted behavioral support that includes emotion regulation, anger management, peer relationship building, and strategies for school success.
Student Intervention Specialists and Mental Health Practioners at the secondary level provide targeted mental health and social emotional learning support to assigned caseload students. This could include small group interventions as well as individual lessons.
School Counselors are available to provide targeted small group or individualized counseling to students on topics related to peer conflict, mental health, school progress, class courses and more.
School Social Workers have an assigned special education caseload and provide targeted support for behavior, social emotional learning and mental health based on designated IEP goals.
