Selected Online Recordings of the Oboe Family
Ever increasing communication has allowed oboists from around the world to hear each other frequently, and to more easily share technique and style. Yet there remains many diverse successful approaches to oboe playing, usually associated with a country and/or a prominent teacher. There are two major styles, North American (USA and Canada) and European, and many variations, some of which close the gap between these two. The differences are, in large part, in the teaching traditions, as well as in the shape and scrape of the reeds which emphasizes different characteristics of the tone quality and flexibility.
The following list of internet recordings of well-known oboists from around the world is no way comprehensive or exclusive.
OBOE FAMILY PERFORMERS BY NATIONALITY
Nationality listed refers to birthplace, but not necessarily playing style, as many oboists study in other countries.
