Welcome and thank you for visiting!  I provide English Language Arts instruction utilizing reading and writing frameworks through Benchmark Workshop, and curriculum approved resources--all in alignment with Common Core State Standards.  This year, I will be collaborating closely with the second grade ELA teachers to ensure that our lessons support students' independent reading level instruction based on students' needs as well as interests.  There will be an engaging mix of whole-group, small-group, and one-to-one coaching for English Language Arts.  Students will be proactive in:  goal setting, planning to achieve set goals, maintaining a positive growth mindset, and celebrating when individual and team goals are met. 

     Primarily for reading, Benchmark Workshop will be utilized.  Benchmark Workshop incorporates a developmental scope and sequence for reading acquisition, based on Common Core State Standards, that works to prepare all students for success in college, career, and life.   I look forward to designing and implementing balanced literacy instruction that works to build a firm foundation for students to draw upon as they make progress and master new skill sets.  Specifically for English Language Arts, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension will be incorporated into the instructional framework.
