Why is my child in your class?
Your child has been identified as Tier 3 in our Response to Intervention & Instruction model (RTII). This means they have multiple years of assessments that show they are struggling to meet grade level standards in reading, writing, and phonics. Tier 1 and 2 interventions have failed to help your child make significant growth.
What is an "intervention room?"
Our intervention rooms are very similar to a typical Language Arts classroom. Students will still receive instruction and assessments at grade level. However, an intervention room has a much smaller class size which allows for more time in small groups and one-on-one with the teacher. Intervention rooms are also taught by BSI teachers and Reading Specialists. Our specialized training allows us more ways to identify and intervene with your child in their struggles with reading, writing, and phonics.
What about the math intervention rooms?
The math intervention rooms have no effect on the ELA intervention rooms. While we follow a similar model, the students are fluid. Students can move in and out of the tiers in both rooms as they learn.
