In 4th grade, we dig deeper into reading skills, focusing on language comprehension.
Think of it as no learning to read, but reading to learn.
We have adopted a brand new ELA curriculum for the 2026-2027, which is Magnetic Literacy. This curriculum also supports iReady instruction.
This is a knowledge based thematic unit curriculum embedding science and social studies. We will study the following units this year:
Unit 1: Keystone Species
How is everything in nature connected?
Unit 2: Storytellers
How do stories shape our lives?
Unit 3: Art & The Great Depression
How does art reflect and shape our understanding of the world?
Unit 4: Free as a Bird
How do symbols communicate meaning?
Unit 5: Cryptoids: Fact or Fiction?
What type of evidence would it take to convince you something is real?
Unit 6: Fire & Ash
How do powerful natural forces impact people and their environment?
We will continue to focus on standard based instruction and utilizing standard based report cards. The standards-based report cards benefit students, teachers, and parents, providing an improved picture of each child’s learning
