Classroom Rules/ Promises:

Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
Raise your hand when you want permission to speak or get out of your seat.
Sit properly and pay attention to the speaker.
Ask questions and participate in learning discussions.
Use kind words and show respect.
Be prepared and always try your best!

Behavior Policy:

Students are expected to follow classroom rules and make good choices to better our classroom community on a daily basis. Students will be held accountable for their behavior choices. We will be using Class Dojo as our primary classroom resource for tracking behavior. Students will earn points for making good choices and for following classroom rules throughout the day, and they will be given opportunities throughout the month to cash in their points for class rewards. Students will also have the opportunity to earn “Proud Piggy” tickets (caught being good system) for special accomplishments or demonstrating good character. Tickets go into our piggy bank and are pulled at random throughout the month for students to have the chance to choose rewards.

We are also implementing a new school-wide recognition program in which students can earn Jett Bucks for displaying respectful, responsible, and kind behavior all over the school. Students will collect their Jett Bucks and then put them into the grade level basket in the cafeteria each week. Several students will be selected from the Jett Bucks Box for prizes weekly, monthly, and even per trimester. Any staff member in the building can give a student a Jett Buck if the student is displaying his/her best behavior.

If students are struggling to make good choices on a consistent basis, you will be notified, and a daily behavior chart system may be put in place to help students hold themselves more accountable for their choices. Consequences may also need to be implemented if they continue to struggle with making appropriate choices. These consequences may include, but are not limited to, losing Dojo points, completing a “Think Sheet,” missing part or all of an activity, having a teacher meeting, parent meeting, or even a principal or counselor meeting. My ultimate goal is that students will learn to hold themselves accountable for their own actions and will make the best choices possible to help our classroom run smoothly.

Snack & Water Bottles

We will take a quick snack break each afternoon. Please send your child with a quick, healthy, easy to open snack. Please do not send candy or canned beverages as a snack. Also, please send your child with a reusable, spill-proof water bottle that he/she may keep at his/her seat. I prefer that these bottles only be filled with water to avoid any sticky messes! Please make sure your child’s name is on his/her water bottle.

Homework Policy:

When students receive homework, it will come home in the “Bring Back” side of their Take Home folder. Homework is not required, but the extra practice is encouraged. Parents, I ask that you work with your children to help them learn and practice their new skills if they're struggling, but please give students the opportunity to show what they know first before you provide support.

Nightly Reading:

Additionally, students should spend at least 15-20 minutes reading every night. Some nights you can read to them while other nights they may want to read to you, but it is essential for the children to receive plenty of exposure to reading! Give them time to ask questions about what they're reading, and I also encourage you to ask them questions as well to keep them thinking about what they're reading.

Communication:

Class Dojo will be my primary resource for communication. Once you provide me with your email or cell phone number, I will send you an invitation to join our class in Class Dojo, and you will receive information about your child as well as classroom and school updates regularly. You can receive messages on your phone if you download the app, and it is a very convenient way of contacting me throughout the day if you need to.

2026-2027 Schedule

Breakfast

Any breakfast ordered through the school will be delivered to the classroom in the morning. Students will be permitted to eat their breakfast at their seat. To order school breakfast please click on the Breakfast Order Form. If your child prefers to bring a small item for breakfast instead of ordering a school breakfast, that is fine as well. Please make sure the item is something the student can easily open himself/herself and it is not something messy / sticky as students are usually completing morning work during breakfast time. It should be something he/she can eat quickly in 10 minutes or less.

Lunch

Students will be assigned to a table for seating in the cafeteria. When sending in lunches, please be sure to send your child with healthy, mess free items that he/she can open independently. If you choose to send in money for your child to purchase lunch, please make sure it is in a sealed envelope with your child's name, amount, and room number on it.
