Hi! My name is Miss Abigail Cicione. Welcome to my website and first grade! I am so excited to be teaching first grade this school year! My classroom is Room 21. We are going to have a great school year filled with lots of learning and growth!
This is my ninth year as a classroom teacher at Janvier and my first year teaching first grade! I'm so happy to continue teaching at such an outstanding school and am very excited to be in first grade! For the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school years I taught all subjects to one class of students in second grade then in 2018-2019 our school formed cohorts for second grade and students started switching which is when I became an ELA and Social Studies teacher to two classes...I taught in that role for five years. Then last school year, 2023-2024, I taught in a two teacher classroom in an ICS setting in second grade - this was a new experience and certainly expanded my teaching repertoire. During the 2020-2021 school year I was one of the all-virtual teachers for the entirety of the school year; that was a different adventure for sure, I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to learn and grow in many new ways and found the experience to be quite rewarding, but am really happy about being back to having students in my classroom. I hope you will see for yourself as the school year progresses that teaching children is truly my passion! I graduated from Rowan University in December 2014 with a B.A. in Elementary Education covering grades K-6 as well as a B.A. in Writing Arts and Geography. I completed my student teaching in nearby Vineland in a second grade classroom at Johnstone Elementary School. After college I worked as a substitute teacher in many elementary grade levels in school districts across South Jersey until I was hired as a part-time Basic Skills teacher for 4th and 5th grade Reading students at Penn Beach Elementary School in Pennsville. I held that position for the 2015-2016 school year then was hired in Franklin Township where my lifelong dream of having my own classroom came true.
I currently reside in Glassboro. I love the beach, my favorite color is purple, I like spending time with friends and family, I enjoy being outside, listening to country music, and working out, and roses are the type of flower I like best!
I believe that reading consistently is imperative to a child's success in school and life! Please help your child by ensuring they read at home consistently!
I’d love to support your child beyond the classroom whenever possible. If they play any sports or are involved in other extracurricular activities, I would be honored to attend an event they are participating in! I want them to know that I care about every aspect of their lives - of course their academic, social, and emotional growth within Room 21 is of utmost importance to me, but I also care about their hobbies. If my schedule allows, I would be more than happy to attend their games, recitals, competitions, etc. My students hold a very special place in my heart and I want to show my support for them! As long as I am given enough advance notice, I will absolutely try my best to be there. I look forward to hearing from you!
