Project: Create is an Enrichment program for gifted and talented students. These students are specially selected each year by the art teachers of Reutter and Main Road.
Students selected for Project: Create are given a google classroom sign in code. There you can find your schedule, updates, and projects we are currently working on. Please email me if you are missing the code.
6th Grade Project: Create's objective is to create a papermache animal. After researching a specific species of an animal and collecting multiple photo references, students sketched a blueprint of an armature, creating a wire skeleton of their animal.
Artists plan on building up their animal out of newspaper and tape, then adding papier-mâché to create a smooth body. Lastly, students will paint adding color, as well as research their animal species, writing about what they have learned.
5th Grade Project: Create's objective is to use acrylic paint to paint an animal species on a canvas. After researching a specific species of an animal and collecting a photo reference, Artists had to transfer their animal's image onto a canvas. Artists used grid-method- a form of drawing that allows artists to transfer an image by drawing one small square at a time, providing more of an accurate drawing.Â
After sketching out their animals, students will create an "Underpainting", making a base color, then adding texture on top with value and a variety of colors. Lastly, students will research their animal species, writing about what they have learned.
Art Club is an after-school program in which students can explore a variety of artistic mediums/processes they may not get to do in Art Class.
