Students have weekly opportunities to think outside the box to solve challenging math problems in small groups. Five times a year, students participate in an international contest to test their mathematical thinking, and at the end of the year we celebrate all of the participants as well as our top scoring students in each grade!

The Franklin Square Intra-district math tournament
The Franklin Square Intra-district math tournament
We are excited to be hosting our third annual intra-district math tournament in late February 2025 and hope to extend it beyond Franklin Square next year! Students work in teams as well as individually to earn points for their teams, which is comprised of students from John, Polk, and Washington Street School. First place teams on each grade level get to go home with a special prize.
This tournament was design with collaboration and unification in mind; it gives our students across the three elementary schools the opportunity to blend and find common ground as they work through Math Olympiads-inspired questions together.
