Whenever possible, we should be offering students opportunities for enrichment outside of their regular school day. I wish I was with my students 24 hours a day, but hopefully you can use some of the ideas below to help push these amazing students to continue to prosper into the amazing people they are!
Listen to podcasts together and then dig deeper into the ones that catch their interest
Build, Build Build! Whether it is with real tools or recycled materials, students often LOVE to have a final product to be proud of. Try: a musical instrument, a Rube Goldberg machine or marble run, a bird house or shelter for another animal, an irrigation system for a garden
Play with the weather: Cold? Place with ice and freezing bubbles; Hot? Cook something in the windshield of your car; Wet? Create a shelter that can keep something inside dry
Does your student keep asking you for something or to go somewhere? Time for them to make a Canva or Google Slides persuasive presentation.
Don't underestimate quiet activities. Chess, checkers, board games, puzzles, painting, crocheting and knitting, writing, making a movie on a device,...
Do you have more activities you've done with the students at home? Feel free to send me an email, picture, or video to share with everyone!
