Mrs. Ray

Welcome to a great year at CBIS! I am so thankful that I get to teach at such a wonderful school and have the opportunity to work with the amazing students in Franklin.

This is my 18th year teaching - all in FCS and in the 5th grade (I really like the 5th grade!). I love teaching math even though it was not my favorite subject in school growing up. Having to work hard and struggle through math as a student has given me a unique perspective as a math teacher. I understand why math can be confusing or frustrating for fifth graders - I empathize with them! I love sharing tricks and tips that I picked up along the way to help me on my math journey. My goal is to make my math class a safe learning environment where students are not afraid to make mistakes, but rather look at those mistakes as opportunities for learning!

I have been married to my husband, Chris, for 12 years. We have three boys (yes, all boys!). Colton is in fifth grade, Connor is in fourth grade, and Caden is in first grade. In our free time (ha-ha!) my husband and I volunteer with the youth group at our church. I am a sports fanatic - I enjoy watching and participating in all kinds of sports! I love running, playing golf and tennis. Spending time at the beach and Disney World are things that we like to do as a family as often as we can! This is my 18th year of being the assistant coach for the FCHS girls' tennis team as well.

I grew up in Franklin, attending Hopewell Elementary, Custer Baker (as a middle school) and then graduating from FCHS. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Franklin College.
