Project Rain Check

Project Rain Check is a district-led project that gives students an opportunity to spread messages of unity, positivity and inclusivity beyond their schools and into the fabric of their community. When you walk through our schools, there are heartfelt messages of community and celebrations of diversity that help create sense of belonging. Our goal is to amplify student voices and empower a greater sense of belonging in our community by reminding everyone that even in the rain, we shine. Due to the drought, Summer of 2022, this project has been delayed for installation until further notice.

What is a "Rain Check"?

Literary work selected will be used to create a “rain check”, which is the name of the message that will be revealed when it rains. We will utilize “invisible spray” and stencils to create the body of work. When applied to a stencil, the ground where the invisible spray was used will repel water, thus unveiling a secret art piece. These works are tied to the theme of "Belonging: Celebrating Unity Through Uniqueness" and will be on display Spring of 2023. FHS Students are encouraged to take a walk through downtown for inspiration on how their literary work can engage with the environment it is placed in.
