Grading Policies

Any grammar or punctuation assessment can be retaken two times. Retakes are available for two weeks after the original assessment. I will record the highest score.

Any writing assignment that is turned in on time can be rewritten for a better grade.

Quizzes over literature terms and definitions may be retaken once. (No reading comprehension or Words Within Words quizzes can be retaken.)

There will be lots of assignments and a lot of opportunities to keep your grade where you want it to be. There is no "extra credit."

Most of the grades I take are on assessments we do in class and writing assignments that can be worked on outside of class. I have always treated homework as practice and not counted it as a grade. However, the assignments for Remote Mondays will not be treated as homework. It is an assignment just as if we were having class that day.

I average grades based on the indicators that are covered on each assignment. Writing and language indicators are worth 45%, reading indicators are worth 45%, and vocabulary indicators (Words Within Words) are worth 10%.
