Mrs. Stacia Mascharka attended Villanova University, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics and Computer Science, and a minor in Business. After graduating, she worked for five years as a K-6 Elementary Mathematics Specialist in Connecticut.
While teaching, Mrs. Mascharka received her Master of Arts from the University of Connecticut in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Giftedness, Creativity, and Talent Development. She proudly studied under Dr. Joseph S. Renzulli, a distinguished leader in the field of Gifted & Talented education.
Upon returning home to New Jersey in 2003, Mrs. Mascharka was thrilled to join the Franklin Lakes Public Schools. She taught third grade for three years. In 2006, Mrs. Mascharka founded the Curiosity Corner Enrichment program. Mrs. Mascharka currently teaches Enrichment and Gifted & Talented classes at CRS, HMR, and WAS.
Mrs. Mascharka has been published as a chapter co-author of the 2023 professional text, Strategies and Considerations for Educating the Academically Gifted. She has experience as a statewide conference presenter and her work has been featured in publications on STEM education. Mrs. Mascharka received the Governor's Teacher of the Year honor in 2005.
Mrs. Mascharka is a member of the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC), the New Jersey Association for Gifted Children (NJAGC), and serves on regional gifted & talented committees. She has been awarded over 20 grants presented to the Franklin Lakes Education Foundation, which directly benefit the hundreds of students she has the pleasure of teaching each year.
Mrs. Mascharka loves working with the children and families in Franklin Lakes. She greatly enjoys bringing exciting, challenging, and innovative learning opportunities to all of her students!
