School Counselors help students in three main areas:
School counselors support students academically by helping them set goals, develop study skills, manage time, and address learning challenges.
School counselors help students with social-emotional challenges by providing a safe space for them to talk. They teach coping skills, conflict resolution, and how to manage stress, anxiety, or difficult emotions. Counselors also support students in building healthy relationships, improving self-esteem, and developing emotional resilience, all while fostering a positive school environment.
School counselors help students with career and post-secondary planning by providing guidance on exploring career interests, selecting courses, and ensuring students make informed decisions about their futures.
