Classroom Expectations

Classroom Expectations

In order to be successful in this class, students are expected to be active participants. It is my goal to provide a positive and engaging classroom where all students have the opportunity to learn, succeed, and share their thoughts and opinions verbally without fear of embarrassment or ridicule. In order for each student to feel safe and comfortable in my classroom, a positive and respectful attitude is expected of all students, this includes respecting others’ thoughts, work, feelings, and individuality.

Classroom Rules

1. Always be prepared. This means you arrive to class on time and with all necessary materials. You complete assignments on time, ask questions when necessary, and stay aware of deadlines. You are prepared for the start of class each day. You do what is right, regardless of what everyone else in class is doing.

2. Act like ladies and gentlemen. This means that you treat everyone with proper consideration, regardless of whether he/she is in the classroom at the time. We will use respectful language, in writing as well as in discussions. Show respect for your environment by keeping the classrooms clean and neat. Think before speaking, and make sure all contributions to the class dialogue are meaningful and pertinent.

3. Always turn in work that makes you proud. This means you take pride in your work. Mistakes are how we learn and they are perfectly okay as long as you give your best effort, do your own work, do not cheat, and do not plagiarize.

Consequences:

  • Verbal Correction/Loss of Braves points
  • Seat relocation/classroom timeout
  • Team timeout – student completes behavior sheet, parent will be contacted, student conference upon return to class
  • Office request to pick up student
