FHS Testing Information

PSAT at Franklin High School

  • PSAT is the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test, and is normed for junior students. Sophomores are welcome to take the test.

  • In September, a email will be sent to all sophomore and junior students, encouraging them to register for PSAT.

  • In September, students will register using a Google Form linked in the email. Spots are on a first come, first serve basis and are not reserved until payment is brought to the Student Services Office. Please make checks payable to Franklin High School.

  • In October, PSAT will be administered at Franklin High School.

  • In December, Counselors will return PSAT results to students.

  • Students that score in the top 1-% nationally, may go on to further competition in the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Competition.

ACT State Test at Franklin High School

  • ACT is the American College Test.

  • ACT is the state mandated test for all high school juniors. For more information about this visit the DPI Website

  • ACT Plus Writing is given to all Juniors at FHS in March.

  • It is recommended students take the ACT in April and/or June of their junior year.

  • Should you take the optional writing test for ACT?
    Currently, there are only 12 colleges in the US that require the writing portion of the ACT. However, while most schools no longer require the ACT Writing section, it's still recommended for many schools if you can do well on it.

  • Students may register Online for dates other than March. FHS will already have you registered for the March date taken at FHS.

  • For National Test Dates, it is recommended students register early. Using this strategy, students will have a higher probability of being assigned to their preferred test center.
