Exploring Watersheds with
Immersive Technology

Getting outside is a great way to explore the natural world; however, this is often not possible for school students due to time constraints, funding, location, weather, or a variety of other factors. To supplement student learning about watersheds, the Science Outreach Center at Saint Francis University developed this project in partnership with NOAA B-WET and four area school districts in the headwaters of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed to enrich their curriculum and design systemic Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) with immersive technology. Using 360-degree imagery, students can digitally visit new places (or explore familiar locations in more detail) to learn about the natural environmentand the interactions and impacts that humans have on it.

Helping students understand watersheds is important to protecting the Bay.
