I have previously shadowed Dr. Deepa Limaye in February, a very accomplished pediatrician in the Farmington Valley area, and later asked her questions during my community contact interview with her. She has been fantastic in answering questions, allowing me to gain insight into fundamental knowledge about pediatrics.
Week of October 4nd
Week of October 11th
I have now researched two scholarly articles. The second one was more specific and took me about an hour. I eventually had a 10 page note template, however it was great to gain insight about cognition and neurology.
First article: core role for cognitive processes in the acute onset and maintenance of post-traumatic stress in children and adolescents

Week of November 9th, 2020
I continued to work on my digital portfolio and at this point had shared with another one of my peers to get it peer reviewed, which I found extremely helpful in regards to utilizing feedback given to me from a new perspective. I lastly finished my noodletools bibliographies and now have about 4 sources.
Week of November 16th, 2020
I worked on my independence rubric and reflection. I set up an appointment with Dr. Usmani, a psychiatrist at Uconn for January 7th, 2021. Lastly, I finished my second note set.
I sporadically worked on and completed the first few modules for the Tuxis Terminology Course. I Watched a Ted Talk by Helen M. Farrell: "What is bipolar disorder?", which helped me better understand a specific, common condition I'm currently studying, bipolar. Lastly, I finished taking notes on my fifth and sixth note set.

Week of January 4th, 2021
I Completed 8 total tunxis terminology modules. I met with Dr. Usmani on January 7th to discuss specific psychiatric questions I had before beginning my preparations for the midyear presentation. I then worked on my midyear presentation and had a 6 minute discussion with Mrs. Tebbetts during class on my progress. I feel really good about the direction I'm headed in and I am currently organizing my notes and evidence to help me directly tackle my driving question.
Week of January 11th, 2021
I finished three more modules (11 in total) for the Tunxis Terminology Course. I spent a few hours trying to find specific data from my research to help me finish up and polish my midyear presentation and eventually submitted and completed my midyear presentation.
Week of January 18th, 2021
I Organized my notes on google drive and in my notes to help me outline for my research paper and updated my digital portfolio.
Week of January 25th, 2021
I finished my Tunxis Medical Terminology course and passed my final exam and my research paper outline.
Week of February 1st, 2021
I emailed Dr. Muhammad Babar (internal medicine doctor) to set up interview and began drafting and outlining my research paper in which I organized my notes to help me incorporate information that would help me with answering my driving question.
Week of February 8th, 2021
I Finished 1,000 words on my research paper.
I did a lot of revising to eventually get to 1,000 words. I also started later because of my own gastrointestinal medical issues I was dealing with that kept me out of school for a many days. For this reason, I created a plan this week that would keep me on track with writing my paper and having the necessary amount of words for each week
Week of February 15th, 2021
I finished 1700 words for my research paper and I met with Dr. Muhammad Babar and asked him general questions about my topic, and specifically how his field (internal medicine) relates to psychiatry and psychology.
Week of February 22th, 2021
I finished 2,000 words for my research paper and I looked over previous class models of exemplar research papers so that I could understand how a research paper stands out and how they approach answering their direct question
Week of March 1st, 2021
I Continued finishing my research paper. I also changed up my paragraph order in my paper to make sure that I discuss treatments of childhood trauma AFTER I talked about the neurological outcomes and I slightly rearranged which brain systems were the most crucial to talk about. Lastly, I participated in the peer review activity to help me improve my research paper.
Week of March 8th, 2021
I finished my research paper and followed the "research paper checklist" to make sure I wrote it in the proper format.
Week of March 15th, 2021
I reached out to Dr. Atique Irfan for a community contact interview. I turned in my finalized research paper after looking over partner feedback that I had received. Regarding my mid-year presentation, I looked over feedback I received on my and wrote my reflection. Lastly, I got to mission 12 for the American Red Cross CPR certification training course.
Week of March 22nd, 2021
I received my American Heart Association CPR certification after finishing all 31 missions and I signed up for a mental health webinar.
Week of March 29th, 2021
I received feedback on my midyear presentation reflection rubric and interviewed Dr. Babar for my community contact hour.
