With increased accessibility, it has made sports betting more accessible than ever before. People can now place bets from the comfort of their own homes or while on the go, and can easily compare odds and place wagers with just a few clicks. It is also becoming legalized all over the world. This has made it easier for people to participate and has also led to increased advertising and promotion of betting services. Betting on sports has also become more socially acceptable in many cultures and is no longer seen as something to be ashamed of as more and more people are betting. Sports betting is a way to potentially earn money, and with new sports books, there are now more opportunities to bet on a wider range of sports and events. For many people, sports betting adds an extra level of excitement and entertainment to watching sports. Betting on a game or match can make it more interesting and engaging, even if you don't have a personal connection to the teams or players involved. With the rise of sports betting, and the most popular sport in America being football, I think it is important to learn the best ways to bet on an NFL game.
The goal of my project was to create a model of the data that I collected on betting lines and some factors that I think affect the winner of an NFL game. I will be reviewing NFL games in the past and this season and looking at the over-under total, point spread, money line, and other betting lines. I will find out certain conditions of these games including weather, location, stadium, time of year, average points against, and average points scored in order to get the most accurate data to see how bets should be placed. With the data that I collected, I hoped to create a model to aid people in betting.
