The Career Center at Farmington High School offers opportunities for students to extend their learning beyond the traditional classroom setting. Students interested in discovering and exploring their career interests or gaining work experience can come to the Career Center for help with employment applications, resumes, interviewing skills and much more. The Career Center also coordinates a wide range of career-related activities and events including:
Career speakers
College trips
Company shadow days
Hospital career days
Tutoring programs
Internships
Professional networking conferences
The Career Center is located next to the School Counseling office and connects to a seminar style classroom.
The Career Center is open 7:30am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday.
To make an appointment, please email Mr. Netcoh (netcohs@fpsct.org) with a few different times you are available to meet (e.g., free periods, after school, etc.).
Students who are interested in internships and job shadows should expect to have multiple meetings with Mr. Netcoh during the school year and are required to attend 4 professional skills workshops before any outreach will be done. Expect engagement with the Career Center over numerous months if interested in job shadows and internships. Because these opportunities are limited for high school students, a placement cannot be guaranteed at the end of the process.
The Career Center, in collaboration with the FHS School Counseling Department, was involved in mapping FHS elective course offerings to the 16 national Career Clusters and learning opportunities within and beyond the walls of Farmington High School.
The resulting document that is linked on the right is intended as a resource to help students explore courses related to their areas of interest and potential career goals and aspirations. Included in this document is a description of each Career Cluster, possible college majors, example careers, recommended elective offerings, clubs & activities, connections to the Farmington community, and valuable school contacts designed to enhance our student experiences both in and outside of the classroom.

The Career Center is committed to advancing equity, community, and inclusion at Farmington High School. We recognize that students come to school with diverse lived experiences, interests, identities, and talents. We respond to this diversity in students' backgrounds and interests by engaging with the community to expand the learning opportunities that are available to students.
