KEVIN ADORNO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Applicants must be members of the present senior class at Farmington High School preparing for entry into visual, musical, graphic design, or other related art field. Two $1,500 awards.
🌐BRIAN BEAUDIN MEMORIAL LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP: Mr. Beaudin graduated from FHS in 1962 as the president of his class. Education was very important to Mr. Beaudin who studied at Fairfield University, UConn, and Cornell University. Mr. Beaudin also served in the US Army during the Vietnam war and received an honorable discharge. Following his military service Mr. Beaudin became a public school educator and spent 9 of his years teaching at FHS. Mrs. Beaudin established this scholarship in her husband’s memory to reward a student who has shown the promise of leadership that was so important to Mr. Beaudin. (This scholarship has a supplemental question on the common application that must be completed to be eligible.)
MARTHA BURR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Applicants must be members of the present senior class at Farmington High School. Students must successfully complete a Capstone or ASPIRE class and have an interest in pursuing a career in education. Variable Awards.
EAST FARMS SCHOOL PTO: Applicants must have attended East Farms School for at least two years and show a strong academic record and demonstrate evidence of active service to school and/or community. $500 award.
FARMINGTON COMMUNITY CHEST SCHOLARSHIPS: Several scholarships available for Farmington High School seniors accepted at a post secondary institution. Financial need is an important consideration.
General Scholarships: Two $2,000 one-time scholarships for graduating seniors planning to attend a 4-year college or university. Selection criteria: community service and financial need.
Vocational Scholarships: Two $2,000 one-time scholarships for graduating seniors who will be attending a vocational school. Additional selection criteria: financial need.
M. Greg Chellgren R.N. Memorial Scholarship: One $1,000 (4-year renewable) scholarship for a graduating senior who will be pursuing a degree in nursing or other medical fields. Additional selection criteria: financial need.
FARMINGTON EDUCATION ASSOCIATION, JOHN P. GROCKI SCHOLARSHIP: Applicants must be members of the present senior class at FHS preparing for entry into a career in the field of education or in a related field, which deals with the welfare, care, or advancement of children and young adults. Two $1,000 awards.
🌳FARMINGTON GARDEN CLUB SCHOLARSHIP: Applicant must be a graduating senior at Farmington High School who has been accepted at a four year, two year, or technical college or university. In addition the applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and plan to study horticultural, agricultural, environmental studies or other related fields. Finally, the applicant must show a true commitment for community service. $1,000 award. (This scholarship has a supplemental question on the common application that must be completed to be eligible.)
👮FARMINGTON POLICE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION: The Farmington Police Benevolent Association scholarship is for students who wish to pursue a career in public service including, but not limited to, police work, fire fighting, nursing, and social work. (This scholarship has a supplemental question on the common application that must be completed to be eligible.)
PAUL L. GOMBOS HONORARY SCHOLARSHIP: The Paul L. Gombos Honorary Scholarship celebrates the enduring legacy of an exceptional Industrial Arts teacher at Farmington High School. Mr. Gombos’ unwavering dedication to craftsmanship, work ethic, and leadership profoundly impacted generations of students, shaping their personal and professional lives. $250-$500 award varies.
THOMAS JOHNSTON MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP: Farmington Friends of Music sponsors this $500 scholarship in the name of long-time FHS music teacher Mr. Thomas Johnston.
✮RUSSELL T. KERCHIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Open to any FHS varsity athlete who intends to enroll in any college. Award varies. (This scholarship has a supplemental question on the common application that must be completed to be eligible.)
CHRISTOPHER IVAN NEAL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Awarded to a student who will pursue a business degree, has played sports at FHS, has community achievements and has financial need. In memory of Christopher Neal who graduated FHS in 2015. $500 award.
JACK PHELAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Awarded to a high school senior(s) who wishes to pursue his/her education beyond high school. Applicants should have involvement in athletics, demonstrate empathy and kindness, and leadership in word and deed. Awards vary.
✮JOHN T. REAVES, JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Available to all students in the Open Choice Program. John T. Reaves, Jr. (known as “JR”) was a Farmington High School graduate in the class of 2000. JR grew up in Hartford and attended FHS as part of the Open Choice program. The mission of the John T. Reaves, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund is to honor the memory of JR by awarding scholarships to students from Hartford that attend Farmington High School and exhibit the values of peace, love, unity, and respect that were the fabric of how JR lived his life. $1,000 award. (This scholarship has a supplemental question on the common application that must be completed to be eligible.)
CHARLOTTE J. SHARP SCHOLARSHIP: Charlotte J. Sharp was the Townwide Reading Consultant in Farmington for many years. She supervised the reading program in all schools and was instrumental in initiating the high school reading program. At her request she spent her final five years teaching first grade at West District School. She considered that experience as the “icing on the cake” of her career. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a degree in the field of education. The student must exhibit high academic standards and dedication to the field of education. $1,000 award.
GREG SHASKAN MEMORIAL LACROSSE SCHOLARSHIP: Awarded to a Farmington High School Lacrosse Team player (boy or girl) who will be attending an NCAA Division III College (student does not have to play Lacrosse in college to apply) $1,000 award.
GRANT E. SHEELY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is in memory of Mr. Grant Sheely who was a Physical Education teacher in Farmington for 36 years. Applicants must be a graduating senior who demonstrates financial need and exemplifies characteristics and qualities such as hard work, perseverance, humility, kindness, generosity, sincerity, leadership, working well with others, and valuing fun and laughter. Two scholarships will be awarded.
One scholarship to a student who has demonstrated an interest in elementary education. $1,000 award. Preference given to a student with at least one parent that graduated from FHS.
One scholarship to a student who has demonstrated a strong desire to pursue a particular vocation, either through a college degree program or a rigorous certificate/license program. $1,000 award. Preference given to a student with at least one parent that graduated from FHS.
WILLIAM H. STREICH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Dr. Streich was an Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent of Farmington Public Schools and taught graduate level classes at Central Connecticut State University. His legacy within the Farmington schools included initiating the Project Concern (now Open Choice Program), leading the district when Farmington schools received the National Blue Ribbon School designation for excellence; led the overhaul of new curriculum which became a statewide model; and initiated and led the efforts for a middle school renovation and the West Woods Upper Elementary School building project. In 1994, he was awarded Educator of the Year by the Farmington Chamber of Commerce and at this time a new wing at IAR Middle School was named for Dr. Streich. This scholarship was established by his family to help a graduate of FHS who plans to attend CCSU and major in education. $500 award.
✮UNION SCHOOL PTO SCHOLARSHIP: Applicant must have attended Union School for at least two years and must show a strong academic record and demonstrate evidence of active service to school and/or community. $600 award. (This scholarship has a supplemental question on the common application that must be completed to be eligible.)
JANET B. WADE SCHOLARSHIP: Janet B. Wade is a retired special education and elementary teacher who taught at East Farms and Union School. She was instrumental in organizing a school-wide “Young Authors Day” where a noted children’s author spoke and each student wrote and illustrated a book which they presented to a small student group. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a degree in the field of education. The student shall exhibit high academic achievement, a love of learning, leadership qualities, and a dedication to children or young adults. Special consideration shall be given to students interested in pursuing studies in the field of special education. $1,000 award.
NOAH WALLACE SCHOOL PTO: Applicants for this scholarship must have attended Noah Wallace School for at least two years. Applicants must have a strong academic record and demonstrate evidence of active volunteering in school and/or community. $1,000 Award.
WEST DISTRICT PTO - DR. MARILYN FENNER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Applicant must have attended West District School for at least two years. Applicants must show a strong academic record and demonstrate evidence of active service to school and/or community. $500 award.
