"Business Student Dream to Become a Manager"
Synopsis
This innovative immersive teaching approach implements the “Student as Manager” model where students are given relevant managerial tasks where they will need to collaborate, communicate, and decide together as part of a management team. The three-pronged teaching approach is an immersive learning process that is implemented for undergraduate business studies. It consists of games (GBL), problem-solving (PBL), and a challenge-based learning (CBL) strategy that aims to prepare business students to manage unexpected and complex industrial issues globally in the 21st century. It encourages an active and reliable learning environment that requires students' creative input, collaboration, and industrial involvement. GBL, PBL, and CBL were implemented on a weekly basis as tasks that were structured according to the course outline to achieve all Course Learning Outcomes (CLO). The students from the Strategic Management subject have implemented this teaching approach for 5 semesters for different cohorts. On average the achievement results for these semester CLOs 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 83.1, 74.5, 79.8, and 83.0 percent, respectively. This teaching approach is beneficial for undergraduate students to learn about industrial issues using 21st-century learning skills (collaborative, creative, critical thinking, and communication) which supports the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) that targets innovation in teaching and learning as in SDG 4: Quality Education. In fact, this copyrighted (CRLY2021000058 & CRLY2022W06193) innovation has been approved by experts around the world. Moreover, this innovation is flexible, scalable, and can be integrated and transferable to other subjects.
