Have you ever heard of the saying, “Man’s best friend?” If you didn’t, you are in luck.
Typically, the word “man” in the saying means mankind, which are human beings. So man’s best friend must be an animal. There are thousands of animals in the world, but this certain animal is a dog. Dogs have been known to be loyal and trustworthy to humans for thousands of years, but how did our little furry friends come to be?
Some people say it all started when a wolf pack split up and started to wander to camps, where some humans lived. Hungry for food, the wolves became closer to humans and the humans kept them as what we might call nowadays “sled dogs” and, over time, gradually evolved into domesticated modern breeds that people have kept as pets. They started to call the dogs, “Man’s best friend” meaning that they were true companions that will always be remembered.
