Ms. Bae joins Highlands High School as the new Director of Choral Activities starting August 2022.
Professionally, Ms. Bae is a conductor and a singer. She serves as an Assistant Choir Director at St. John's United Church of Christ. She is also a Music Director of Delta Kings Barbershop Chorus, which performs regularly in the community. Ms. Bae was a featured soloist/chorister (soprano) in many ensembles, including CCM Chamber choir, Heri et Hodie and more.
Outside of Choral Music, Ms. Bae enjoys playing the piano, acoustic guitar, electric bass (jazz) and handbell. She is enthusiastic about musicals as well, participaing as a singer or instrumentalist.
Ms. Bae holds two degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of music (BM in Music Education and MM in Choral Conducting).
Ms. Bae is a proud member of the National Association for Music Education and American Choral Directors Association.
She has lived in many places of the world: South Korea, New Zealand, Japan and United States. She loves to travel as well!
Mrs. Beth Rowland is a native of Northern Kentucky, graduating from Notre Dame Academy in Park Hills, Kentucky where she discovered and developed her passion for music - singing in the school choirs, accompanying the musicals, and studying private piano.
Mrs. Rowland attended Northern Kentucky University where she received full academic and music scholarships, majoring in Music Education with an emphasis on piano and choral singing (BME 2000). While there, Mrs. Rowland studied piano with the renowned Sergei Polusmiak as well as studying music abroad with the KIIS Program.
Mrs. Rowland was hired to be the choral director at Highlands Middle School when the new building opened in 2001. She has maintained that position ever since, teaching hundreds of students music and choir throughout her tenure at HMS.
In 2005, Mrs. Rowland graduated from Northern Kentucky University with her Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis on Gifted and Talented Learners. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Rowland also maintains the position of Musical Director for the school musicals and prepares and auditions students for the All-State Choirs each year.
When she's not working, Mrs. Rowland enjoys spending time at the Rowland Ranch with her husband, Micheal, and their three children, Grace, Garry, and August.
