FROM ADE Commissioner's Memo IRI
Within Arkansas Law there are statutes pertaining to reading instruction and reporting to parents:
A.C.A § 6-15-1204 Intensive Reading Instruction (IRI) states that the parent or guardian of any student who exhibits a substantial deficiency in reading shall be reported in writing:
that his or her child has been identified as having substantial deficiency in reading
a description of the current services that are provided to the child
and a description of the proposed supplemental instructional services and supports that will be provided to the child that are designed to remediate the identified areas of reading deficiency.
A parent signature is not required to complete the IRI plan, but is highly encouraged to communicate verbally with parents

COMPLETE Tracy Newhart will review the K-2 Istation data for all schools at the beginning of October
COMPLETE Tracy Newhart will send each principal a list of students who were identified as needing an IRI (virtual students included)
COMPLETE Tracy Newhart will send principals an email with the necessary information for each core classroom teacher (containing directions on the next steps and the IRI written form for each student)

Note: Virtual students will be assigned to the virtual teacher to complete and discuss with parent/guardian.
A committee/team decides Istation and other formative assessments give adequate evidence the student does not need an IRI (Example: September Istation was the first time for a student on the computer, October scores show an increase in the sub-skills for reading)
Progress monitoring evidence shows the student is making progress and no longer needs an IRI
A score of Level 2 or above Overall Reading (21st percentile and higher) on Assessment (ISIP) or Instruction of Istation ( two consecutive scores)
