Course Choice Process Questions
Senior (S5/6) Choices Questions
Submission deadline for S2 pupils - Friday 14th February
Submission deadline for S4/5 pupils - Wednesday 26th February
S5 pupils are expected to pick a subject in each column. The only exception to this is if there is a blend of delivery models between school and partner organisation.
S6 pupils can have a minimum of 3 qualifications if they are all at Advanced Higher level of study. If not a minimum of 4 columns should be studied.
No they won't. Once pupils have chosen courses and the school has a list of numbers for each subject, decisions will be made around which subjects are offered.
If you receieve an unconditional offer to university - well done! This does not mean you begin to drop subjects that are no longer needed. We believe in finishing what you start so the expectation is that you continue with all subjects.
Pupils pick qualifications and not particular teachers. Unfortunately we can't guarantee this due to the complex nature of timetabling.
Given the desire by many of our pupils to study various subjects at AH level, these subjects are not 'columned' like others. Once timetabling is completed staff and pupils will meet to identify the most appropriate time for these qualifications to run.
This flexible approach allows more pupils access to more Advanced Highers.
We will do our very best to ensure that pupils are satisfied with their course choices. However, we cannot guarantee that every single pupil will get there first choice. Your guidance teacher or Mr Findlater will speak to you if we need to select your second choice in any column.

Other Frequently Asked Questions
Wherever possible we want to encourage inclusion in mainstream classes. In some cases this can happen with support. If you feel neither of these are appropriate for your child, please get in touch with their Guidance Teacher.
Different schools have different curricular models and the number of subjects studied generally varies between 6&8. Individual schools strike a balance between what is deliverable and in the best interests of their pupils.
