The general progression through chemistry courses is shown below.
National 4 in S3 and S4 could then progress onto National 5 in S5 and then onto Higher in S6.

Studying chemistry can help get a career in food science, forensics, the police, teaching, medicine, pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicine, agriculture, environmental science, material science, engineering, research, hairdressing and many more options.
While you may consider a job in chemistry will involve working in a lab, this is not the case for many careers related to chemistry.
