“The skills I learn help me in all my subjects when using IT”
"I studied Admin & IT when I was at school and I find myself using the skills I learnt in the subject every single day. Especially when preparing lessons using PowerPoint and Google Slides, keeping track of test results using Spreadsheets and replying to the many emails I receive daily! It also taught me how to be efficient, organised and how to solve problems"

“Learning the skills of Microsoft Word and Excel in Admin in school has been really beneficial in my engineering role, both are used lots in the day-to-day role. An example of Word in the electrical engineering side would be the control philosophies for the Water Treatment Works we build; we have to detail how the plants will operate, putting them together neatly and quickly (with the touch typing from Admin) allows the project to progress. Mechanical Engineers have to write lengthy lifting strategies, detailing how items of equipment will be removed if they fail.
Excel is used everywhere in engineering; electrically, our load schedules which total up the amount of electricity the plants use are all carried out on Excel.” Lewis Reid - Senior Electrical Engineer - RSE
