Personal Finance is a graduation requirement for all Missouri high school students. In this class we will cover a wide variety of topics including, but not limited to:
Career exploration (resume and cover letter creation)
Setting financial goals and creating a monthly budget
Understanding your paychecks
Taxes (how to file them and what taxes we pay/why we pay them)
Banking (selecting the right bank, writing checks, making deposits, balancing your checkbook)
Credit (loans, credit card, dangers of debt and bankruptcy)
Retirement planning, investing, and saving for future education
Insurance (types of insurance and insurance terminology)
Students are expected to check google classroom and their student email daily for work or instructional materials.
If you are absent, you are still responsible for the work done that day. If you are absent and an assignment is due that day, you will have additional time to complete that work without a reduction in grade. You will get one make up day for each day missed to complete work without it being counted late. If you miss many days, please contact me directly to work on a plan for making up missed assignments.
EXAMPLE: You are absent on Monday and an assignment is due Monday. You will have until Wednesday at 11:59 pm to turn in the work without it being counted late.
If you submit an assignment after the due date you must add a private comment on the Google Classroom assingment with the word "done". This will notify me that I need to go back and update your score.
Students will be allowed one reassessment per DCA.
In order to be eligible for a reassessment, he/she must have completed the provided study guide.
If the study guide is incomplete or has not been turned in, no reassessment will be provided.
All work will be due by 11:59 pm.
If work is submitted after 11:59 pm it is considered late.
Late work will be accepted for 70% credit.
My plan is to have the grade book updated in a timely manner. My goal is to always have it updated on a weekly basis, but please understand there are times with this may not be feasible. I have also set a goal to enter late work grades into the grade book on Fridays.
Email is the best way to contact me. I will check it multiple times throughout the day. I may not be able to reply immediately if I am teaching, but I strive to have messages returned within one business day.
