Professional Learning Resources

There are MANY sites available on the internet to increase teachers' professional knowledge and skills. Fort Osage teachers are encouraged to explore these resources as well as others they discover through their Personal Learning Network (PLN) made up of local colleagues as well as fellow educators from across the globe.

Digital Promise Micro-Credentials - learn about a wide variety of instructional and educational practices through online instruction and opportunities to demonstrate understanding through action and reflection. Each micro-credential addresses a specific concept, skill or idea, and teachers can learn on their own or as a team.

ShakeUpLearning - if you're interested in improving your skills at using Google resources in the classroom, this is the site for you. There is a large collection of articles, presentations, posters and more to help teachers effectively integration G Suite resources in every classroom.

Teaching Channel - this site features articles, videos, blogs and discussion groups related to classroom practices across all subject areas and grade levels. Search for exactly what you're looking for or get lost exploring the many strategies and insights available on this site.

Twitter Chats - if you're interested in communicating and collaborating with colleagues about virtually any educational topic, there is a Twitter chat to meet your needs. Whether you're 'listening in' by searching the hashtag or actively participating while the chat is taking place, there is much to be learned in 140 character bites.

WeTeachNYC - the largest school district in the country has compiled a comprehensive website of instructional resources for its teachers, and much of their work is available to the world. While there is some information specific to New York City, good teaching in Brooklyn is very much like good teaching in Buckner.

The Fort Osage R-1 School District affirms its commitment to ensuring that people with disabilities have an opportunity equal to that of their nondisabled peers. We encourage students to participate in the district’s programs, benefits, and services, including those delivered through electronic and information technology, except where doing so would impose an undue burden or create a fundamental alteration. The accessibility of online content and functionality will be measured according to the World Wide Web consortium’s (W3C’s) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA and the Web Accessibility Initiative Accessible Rich Internet Applications Suite (WAI-ARA) 1.0 for web content, which are incorporated by reference. To request assistance or report an issue relating to the accessibility of this website, please email ssmith@fortosage.net or call 816-650-7019 during district office hours.
