Service Hours & Obligations

Service activities form the core of the National Honor Society. Volunteering yourself will help you gain empathy, awareness, leadership, collaboration with others, and motivation to make a difference in our school and community.

• Each member is required is required participate in at least one event from each of the seven areas of community service each year they are in NHS. These acts of service must be completed by the beginning of May each year. If you do not complete one of the seven areas of service in a school year, you must make up the service event by completing 5 additional individual service activities.

• Service activities should be VOLUNTEER opportunities that are self-directed, complex, and serve a need within the school or community.

• Mandatory service hours earned from another club/activity will NOT count toward NHS hours.

• All service activities must be submitted within 60 days of the activities completion. (Note: Photo proof required).
