It's Decision Time: Tool Kit and Conversation Guide

Discuss the following questions to aid in conversation prior to taking the Educational Setting Survey.

1. Assess your student's experience and performance this past school year (spring 2020) or in this school year (2020-2021).

2. Talk openly and honestly about what worked and what didn't (family schedule, resources, technology).

3. Talk openly and honestly about learning that occurred - this is not always reflected in the grade received.

4. Talk about the learning experience - for example - science classes with no lab component are providing students a fraction of the entire experience.

5. Discuss college admissions, goals, and the uncertainty that surrounds the admissions process when "virtual course" remains on transcript post-pandemic (we don't have those answers).

6. Discuss friend groups and isolation (Social and Emotional/Mental Health concerns).

7. Discuss extracurricular component of school/admissions/goals.

8. Discuss your students' daily/weekly schedule while virtual.
