The Lambert Dog Park is an exciting extension of the Lambert Therapy Dog Program and our commitment to providing meaningful learning experiences for students in our specialized instruction program. The park creates opportunities for students to strengthen communication, speech and language development, social interaction, vocational skills, confidence, and independent living skills through authentic, hands-on experiences.
At Lambert, we believe learning extends beyond the classroom. Our specialized instruction students participate in a variety of on-campus experiential learning opportunities centered around our beloved #LambertPack therapy dogs.
One of these opportunities is Duck Quackers, a student-run dog treat business where students prepare, package, market, and deliver homemade dog treats to staff members every other week. Through this experience, students develop valuable vocational, communication, and workplace readiness skills while building confidence and independence.
Students also serve as ambassadors for the Therapy Dog Program by presenting to classes about the differences between therapy dogs and service dogs, educating their peers while strengthening their own public speaking and communication skills. Working alongside our therapy dogs, students practice commands, teach new tricks, and demonstrate the positive impact these dogs have on our school community.
The Lambert Dog Park expands these opportunities even further by providing a dedicated space where students can continue developing social skills, communication, leadership, and vocational experiences while interacting with our therapy dogs. It also serves as a welcoming space that strengthens connections between Lambert and the greater community.
The Lambert Dog Park was made possible, in part, through a generous grant from the Forsyth County Schools Education Foundation, along with the support of many community partners and dedicated volunteers who share our vision of creating meaningful opportunities for every Longhorn.
Lead Well. Live Well. Love Well.
