Haw Creek is PROUD to announce our 2026 Teacher of the Year, Mr. Cam Neal! Some things Mr. Neal's colleagues said about him in his nominations include:
Mr. Neal empowers students to be their best!
He prepares the kids for next steps by by fostering responsibility and independence.
Mr. Neal consistently lets the kids know they are supported.
He also attends games for students outside of the school day.
Our Teacher of the Year observers noted that Mr. Neal...
embeds structure so clearly that students deeply know how to respond in class.
provides lessons so rich that they build on routines and connections fostering engagement and classroom community.
Congratulations to our two Georgia Department of Education Accomplished Teachers,
Mrs. Beaudine and Mrs. Barrilleaux!
These two Haw Creek teachers are the ONLY two Accomplished Teachers recognized in Forsyth County this year. Congratulations, teachers - we are so proud of you both!
Parents - iReady Diagnostic letters go home via School Messenger today, Friday, September 4th. iReady is a diagnostic assessment students take 3 times each year as a part of our Universal Screening process. Here's what you need to know right now about this results letter:
Fall data is BASELINE - your child is most likely scoring "approaching grade level" because they had NO instruction in their new grade level when they took this test! That is on-target!
School teams are closely examining this data and will reach out to families if your student is a candidate for early intervention or additional support.
The i-Ready report you receive contains helpful information on how you can support stidents and practice these skills at home!
Haw Creek launches our Boosterthon Fundraiser on September 8th to raise funds to transform our courtyard into an outdoor classroom space! Whether taking a lesson outside, celebrating an instructional milestone, using hands-on science activities, or even inviting families to join in for outdoor lunch space, this multi-use space is sure to make a positive impact on our students. The best part? IT WAS THEIR IDEA!!
Haw Creek has a goal of $30,000 to make this idea into a reality and Boosterthon starts on September 8th with a schoolwide kick off. Stay tuned to the excitement ahead as we share results and whether our kids reach their ultimate goal - SLIMING DR. J!
We are so proud of our students and how well they are doing in our lunchroom with our Pause for PAWS expectations that we are READY to welcome parents to join us for lunch! To make sure you are prepared before you arrive, please review the following:
Bring your ID to scan in for your Visitor's Pass
CHECK WITH YOUR CHILD's TEACHER to know the exact lunchtime.
Parents are allowed to bring lunch from outside, but it is not encouraged. Any outside food must ONLY be for your child for safety reasons.
You will join your student (and ONLY your student- no additional friends) to eat lunch on the stage.
Remember lunch is only 25 minutes, so the time will fly by and they will be ready to return to their day!
Interested in being a part of our lunchroom supervision team? Feel free to sign up for opportunities in our Partner Connect site and complete our Parent Volunteer agreement. We would LOVE to have you!
Lunch visitors do NOT need to complete Partner Connect agreements - JUST volunteers!

We have LOVED seeing our families for Parent 101 in August and our FINAL Parent 101 Session will be next week on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th. We hope you will make plans to learn more about Haw Creek! RSVP here.
Parent 101 is a series of 4 sessions for our newest Husky Families. Our goal is to provide ongoing support for new to HCES families as we begin the year to ensure you are set up for success as a new family.
Our next session will be held on Wednesday, September 9th in the Cafeteria from 7:45-8:45am focusing on Growing Leaders Together: Partnering to Lead Haw Creek. Every session will allow for questions/answers, a chance to engage in conversation with our presenters, and insight into how to connect and navigate our elementary school.
Love the idea, but cannot attend in person? The presentations are uploaded to our webpage along with our FAQs from our sessions. Missed the first one? No worries! Parents may attend as many or as few as they would like.
We hope that by offering this opportunity, we will create a toolkit of resources to support our newest families in learning about our Haw Creek Pack!
Thank you for joining us for Curriculum Night! We loved seeing our families and hope you learned more about how to be READY for the school year.
If you didn't get to attend, you can still participate in our READY check-in. Talk through THIS AGENDA with your student and send it in to your homeroom teacher to receive your bracelet.
Whether you attended or not, please take a moment to complete THIS SURVEY so we can learn more about creating experiences that support our community and meet the needs of our families. Your voice matters!! Thank you!

The words we say to ourselves and others have a powerful impact. Your Words Matter Week helps students recognize how their words can shape the school environment by encouraging kindness, respectful communication, and positive self-talk. Together, we can use our words to help make our school a safe, welcoming place for everyone.

How Can our Family get involved
at Haw Creek?
Haw Creek's Local School Council is made up of parents, teachers, and business partners invested in learning more about our school and system supports throughout our district. Each year we meet to discuss what is going on in our campus and district, connect with concerns and ideas to make Haw Creek better, and make recommendations to our district and our PTO for implementation in the next year.
While our Local School Council does have voting members, the meetings are open and all are welcome. Want to learn more about what we have been doing? CLICK HERE for our End of Year Minutes.
Thank you for those who nominated individuals for our open parent positions. At this time we are ALSO seeking BUSINESS PARTNERS. A business partner is any parent/guardian who also owns a business - either in our local community or at large. Please nominate BUSINESS PARTNERS on this link.
Want to learn more about LSC? Email Dr. Johnessee directly. Want to see what we've done in the past? You can find our minutes in the FCSS Board of Education website - click Meetings at the top - click Meeting Title Search, and enter Haw Creek. That will show all previous and upcoming Haw Creek LSC meetings.
Thanks for participating with us!
Thank you to our parents, parent/business partners, and teachers who serve on our Haw Creek Local School Council!
We are excited to announce that the NEW Parent Representatives you elected this fall are Mrs. Rubeen Khannum and Mrs. Anita Patel. Please share your congratulations and gratitude for their serving on our council.
As a reminder, Haw Creek's LSC meetings are open to ALL Haw Creek families and take place on Mondays at 2:45 in the Media Center. All are welcome!
7 Habits at Haw Creek
At Haw Creek, our students are learning about the 7 Habits of highly effective people as we build leadership skills and grow as students. The 7 Habits Tree is in every classroom as a reminder that just like a tree, leadership begins with our personal roots of effectiveness.
Habit 1 is Be Proactive. Our students are learning that being proactive aligns with our Pause for PAWS expectation of Act Responsibly. When a leader acts responsibly, they take initiative, are prepared for the day/task, are in charge of themselves and their actions, and make good choices.
You can practice Being Proactive at home this week by:
Packing and Unpacking Your Backpack each day
Putting out your clothes the night before to make mornings easier
Helping to make dinner or put dishes away after a meal
Doing chores around the house
What other ways can you practice being proactive this week?
