Phonics is the relationship between letters (graphemes) and sounds (phonemes). The goal of phonics instruction is to help children grasp the relationship between the letters of the alphabet and spoken sounds. Teaching children to blend the sounds of letters together helps them crack the code of reading. For example, when a child is taught the sounds for the letters n, t,a, and s, they can start to build words like, “nat”, “tan”, “sat”, etc.

This is great practice for students currently in grades K-2, or as a review for older students!

All available games for each of the UFLI Foundations lessons are linked to the lesson's skill's name (e.g. Lesson 35 "short a") for students to choose their own OR there are three specific pre-selected games available for each lesson (e.g. Lesson 35 - Roll & Read, Tic-Tac-Toe, and Race Game) to make it easier on little ones. Ask your child's teacher which UFLI lesson they are working on for that week, and choose a game to play for that lesson. You could also play the previously listed games as a review.
