Turtles, snakes, alligators, geckos, and chameleons are all some of the reptiles we are familiar with.
Reptilia have a few distinctive features that we are also fairly familiar with. First of all, reptiles have very thick skin that they shed. They also produce amniotic eggs, which have a fluid sack inside them. Unlike amphibians, they cannot breath through their skin. They also have teeth that are built to hold on to prey, as lots of reptiles swallow their prey in one piece. They also use their tongue to smell, and have very keen hearing and vision. They are also cold-blooded.
