You will need to submit 3 dates and stations for each month.
DO NOT schedule a Sunday. If you do, that date will not be taken into consideration.
If you select a school day, you will receive an excused absence for the day.
Shift time is 0700 (arrive NO LATER than 0645) to 1500 (you CANNOT leave earlier).
You may stay later but no later than 1900 any night.
If you are going to miss your shift, you need to contact me ASAP!
You cannot make up missed shifts.
More than 2 missed shifts will result in your rides being suspended.
You are REQUIRED to ride a minimum of 48 hours.
Do not forget to get your time log signed off each shift by your preceptor(s). Extra sheets can be found under the "NREMT Skills Lab Book & Logs" tab.
Upon arrival to the station, you will take a selfie. It can be outside the building, inside the building, with or without staff (pictures with staff is a fun thing but not if they don't want to). The staff can also take the picture of you.
The selfies show me that you have arrived at the station and that you are dressed appropriately.
Make sure you have your Traffic Vest with you.
DO NOT forget to have your Preceptor watch the video of what you can and cannot do.
DO NOT forget to have your Preceptor scan the QR code on the back of your badge to fill out the survey on how you did.
Let me know when you are leaving the station.

Helpful Hints:
Introduce yourself to everyone at the station.
Get in on the truck check off and ask questions.
Learn where all of the equipment is.
Ask them what their expectations of you are so it is clear what they will allow you to do on a call.
Over time as they establish trust in you, they will let you do more.
Do not pretend to know something if you do not! They can see through you and will test you.
Ask questions.
DO NOT PLAY ON YOUR PHONE!
Get involved with training, even the fire fighters. It is always good to learn something.
Eat and socialize with them.
You can bring your own food, just eat at the same time they do.
Lunch is typically on your own.
Most stations eat breakfast and dinner together but be prepared to pay your share.
If you sit there and don't speak, they will not engage. You will learn nothing. Interact and have fun.
Wear your seatbelt.
DO NOT correct them. Even if you think they are wrong. You can tell me in class.
Remember, you are NOT one of them. You are on the outside of the circle. DO NOT join in any gossip of anyone at the station. If someone gossips to you, just listen. If you feel it is inappropriate, let a supervisor or myself know.
Take initiative. Help out with station chores, wipe down equipment after a call, do dishes after dinner, etc.
Have thick skin. Don't take things personal. They like to joke and will say things we don't say at school. If you are ever uncomfortable, let me know.
Be willing to make fun of yourself. You will make mistakes. If you get a nickname and they continue to joke with you, then you are doing great! Embrace it.
It would be in your best interest to complete your PCR's at the station so they can help you.
