¡Hola! Welcome to High School Spanish! Below you will find a description of each of the High School Spanish courses offered at Forestville. This course reinforces speech and listening patterns with emphasis shifting to reading, writing, and more complex grammatical structures. Spanish 2 targets Checkpoint B material according to NY State syllabus with spiraling of checkpoint A materials.
*Local Final: June 2026
Emphasis here is on the development of reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Non-Fiction reading comprehension and the development of practical writing skills in the area of description, persuasion, and inquiry are also included. This course is aligned to the preparation for the Checkpoint B NY State Comprehensive exam and is a requirement for the advanced Regents Diploma.
*Checkpoint B Comprehensive Examinations:
Monday June 22 @ Noon
This course includes a mix of culture, history, upper level vocabulary, introduction to Checkpoint C grammar, and has an emphasis on the acquisition of authentic resources through the use of technology. The course also provides a global appreciation for politics, economy, the environment, and cultural identity.
*Local Final: June 2026
This course is designed to be equivalent to general Spanish courses taken during the first two years of college. The course includes a mix of culture, history, literature, upper level vocabulary, and checkpoint C grammar. The course incorporates authentic text, audio, and technology to challenge and prepare students for college and/or a career in Spanish. Students have the opportunity to take the computer based CLEP exam. Students may earn 6 or 9 college credits based on their CLEP exam scores.
