In December 2020, we were notified that the “Clinical Mental Health Services in the Bronx Community” (CCMH) project has been funded with a grant of $300,000 from Mother Cabrini Health Foundation for one year. The aim of this project is to provide free virtual counseling to at-risk children and youth in predominantly Black, Latino, and immigrant communities whose mental health needs have been intensified against a backdrop of racial inequities in the wake of the pandemic. In keeping with Fordham’s Jesuit traditions and social justice and equity missions, we appreciate the generous support of Mother Cabrini Health Foundation for us to support Bronx youth of color through much-needed telehealth clinical services.
To successfully implement this project, five graduate assistants from the Division of Psychological and Educational Services have been selected to work under the guidance of two staff members: Laura Guy, LCSW-R (Outreach and Program Coordinator), and Robert Garvey (Administrative Assistant). As you could see below, I am confident that the eight of us — with our unique backgrounds, training, and experiences — will form a cohesive group to meet the divergent and complicated needs of children and adolescents in the Bronx.
