Footscray High School believes the teaching of cybersafe and responsible online behaviour is essential in the lives of students and is best taught in partnership between home and school. 21st century students spend increasing amounts of time online, learning and collaborating.
To be safe online and to gain the greatest benefit from the opportunities provided through an online environment, students need to do the right thing by themselves and others online, particularly when no one is watching.
Safe and responsible behaviour is explicitly taught at our school and parents/carers are requested to reinforce this behaviour at home.

Parent/Carer & Student Agreement - Conditions for Use of Chromebook
The 1:1 Chromebook program aims to improve student learning experiences both in and out of the classroom. When a Chromebook is purchased there is an expectation that students will make good decisions with regard to their personal use of technology. The conditions of use agreement must be signed and provided to the school before the device will be issued or used.
Purpose
The digital device is to be provided as a tool to assist student learning both at school and at home.
Equipment Ownership
any unauthorised “personalisation” of the device such as scribing or adding stickers is not permissible
Parents/carers and students should be aware that files stored on Google Apps are not private.
Damage or loss of equipment
All devices and batteries are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty for one year. The warranty covers manufacturer’s defects and normal use of the device. It does not cover negligence, abuse or malicious damage. We strongly recommend the purchase of extended warranty, accidental damage insurance and a protective carry bag.
Any problems, vandalism, damage, loss or theft of the device must be reported to the school.
If the Chromebook is lost, damaged or stolen in most cases the parent/carer will be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement
To prevent voiding of warranty all repairs or replacements must be done via the college
