In the past 10 years since the general public has been more educated on the dangers of ocean pollution, there has been a new spark of interest in researching the injustice. With information more readily available and ocean conditions worsening, people are beginning to take action and are encouraging others to do so as well. And so, the first and main step of my action plan is to help educate the public about this issue because I believe that if people are educated on how bad the situation is, they will be more compelled to do something about it and help make a change. I feel this will be an effective first step because it has worked before and is the reason for a new spark in ocean pollution research. To accomplish this, I have created a resources page on this website where viewers can learn about the most startling facts regarding ocean pollution. The page also provides informational and educational videos as well as links to various organizations' websites that viewers can visit to help support the fight against ocean pollution.
In addition to this, I hope to be able to physically support some of these organizations, and many others, by participating in beach cleanups and other conservation efforts as soon as it becomes safe to do so. I feel as though it will be a fun and valuable experience that will most importantly be helping the planet. I also hope to pursue biology or marine biology in college so that I can be a part of the fight against ocean pollution in my future.
