7 themes of Catholic Social Teaching

I. Option for the Poor and Vulnerable

People dealing with mental health issues are often seen as fragile and in need of extra support. The Bible teaches us to put the well-being of those struggling with mental health first. But, the reality in China today tells a different story. Instead of getting the extra care they need, those with mental health conditions are often pushed aside, facing discrimination at work, in schools, and other parts of life.

II. Call to Family, Community, and Participation

Patients with mental illnesses might be among the most vulnerable members of Chinese society. As such, it falls upon their families and society at large to care for them. There should be a collective effort to pay more attention and offer additional support to those who require extra help, both mentally and physically.
