What can be done?

Action

Many people have been taking action to end mass incarceration. Some important groups and people that have made efforts toward reform include the Brennan Center for Justice, the Vera Institute of Justice, the Marshall Project, the Catholic Prision Ministires Coalition, Pope Francis, Bryan Stevenson, and The Sentencing Project.

To take action yourself you can educate yourself by researching these groups and people using the links below.

What have I done?

I had a speaker come to my theology class and share her story with me and my peers. She educated us about what life is like in prison along with many injustices in the U.S. criminal justice system, especially for women. It was a great way to hear a real-life example of how this issue is affecting people, and I'm glad I was able to educate my peers on this issue.
